Nymotion builds single and multi axis machine controls used in autosamplers, 96/384/1536 array wellplate dispensing and scanning, inspection, vision, imaging and microscopy applications.
Our target customer is the subassembly or machine builder working with a budget, a defined product development specification and a time line.
The machine and motion control market is awash in costly, inflexible, custom motion control systems. Nymotion machine controls use off-the-shelf, embedded plug-in drive/controller modules from Trinamic and Technosoft Motion Control. Using proven, reliable surface mount modules allows Nymotion to concentrate on customer needs that make a real difference: Application Development.
Nymotion engineering can bring up most 1 - 3 axis microstepping applications in 1 - 2 man-hours using off-the-shelf NYT-AP Series machine controls running turn-key NYT-AP and Windows software.
Servo applications are more challenging but proven NYT-AP hardware and firmware allows quality engineering time and effort to remain focused on application development.
Case # 1: An innovative manufacturer with an electrical engineering and programming staff can and in many cases should buy and build at the IC or module level. Buying right is critically important and if the production volumes are reasonable an in-house make decision is a sound one.
In these applications, NYT-AP Series Machine Controls are an ideal means to prototype with and quickly deploy preproduction equipment.
NYT-AP Series Machine Controllers are stock machine controls. Application development begins immediately, in parallel with critical path positioning slides, actuators and rotary elements.
NYT-AP Firmware, Nycomm Tools for Windows, the Trinamic Integrated Development Environment and Technosoft's EasyMotion Studio allows quick application development.
In production OEM applications, Nymotion quotes custom machine controls with a 24 month warranty, on-going warranty repair and replacement, 100% test and burn-in services and custom OEM harnessing.
Nymotion
software development and electrical engineering compliments in-house engineering resources.
The outcome: In Budget, To Specification and On Time.
Case # 2: The same manufacturer discussed above or a new enterprise has identified and developed specifications for a promising new equipment niche. Potential sales look promising but customer feedback and in-field trials are required to refine a ground breaking (for example) imaging technology. In this example, the imaging technology is the critical path rather than the machine controller.
Having the resources and the knowledge to design, develop and prototype machine controls from scratch doesn't make this decision the right one. In too many cases "make decisions" are driven by what "we can make" rather then what "needs to be made" on a reasonable budget and time line.
Using a wellplate scanner as an example, moving (step, dwell and repeat) individual wellplate cells into over a scan sensor is trivial. It takes time, testing and money to do it right but the designs are straight forward. This said, in the proof-of-concept and R & D phase, the critical path is developing an optical train or a suitable temperature control chamber for the new electroluminescence imaging device rather than that trivial pursuit on non-critical machine control elements.
Concentrate scarce and valuable in-engineering resources on the critical path.
Case # 3: If drives, motion controls and motion mechanics are not a core competency investigate full support, OEM solution providers like Nymotion LLC and buy a turn-key machine control or mechatronic subassembly. Nymotion references for OEM drives, drive/controllers and mechatronic subassemlies are available on request.
